ESTANCIA la calera

entre rios, ARGENTINA

high-volume duck and perdiz

Estancia Los Barcinos - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Estancia La Calera, about three hours north of Buenos Aires, Argentina offers world-class gunning for ducks and perdiz.  It is situated in the Gualeguay and Uruguay river basins in Entre Rios Province (Entre Rios means “between two rivers”).  The estancia, with its 120,000 acres of private land, is the headquarters for the largest estate ranch/farm in the area. Estancia La Calera is a newly refurbished estancia featuring a spacious dining area with five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

The ducks

The fertile lands of these vast river basins with many potholes, river channels, canals and marshes are the winter home to millions of ducks and is some of the most fertile land in Argentina producing corn, soybeans and other cereal crops. Duck varieties include speckled teal, silver teal, cinnamon teal, ring teal, Brazilian teal, brown pintail, white cheek pintail, and rosy-billed pochard. Hunters can expect seven boxes of shells per day on ducks. Virtually all shooting areas are within 20 minutes of the estancia. This is the best duck hunting on EARTH!

The perdiz

Outfitter Martin Puig provides an excellent kennel of careful Brittanies, English setters and German shorthairs for hunting of Argentina’s most sought-after upland game bird, the spotted tinamou (locally called perdiz). Hunters can expect several flushes in a 1-2 hour outing, enjoying careful dogwork and flawless retrieving. Hunting generally takes place within a twenty to thirty-minute drive from the estancia.  The limit is 8-10 birds per hunter, depending on the year.
